Robert Mugabe Finally Says Goodbye to active Politics

Zimbabwe's longest serving president, Robert Mugabe, has finally decided to retire from active politics, allafricanews.com reports.


Addressing a group of war veterans over the weekend, Africa's longest serving leader believes he had now “defeated the British and Americans" and that he understood times were difficult in Zimbabwe.

“As long as the party says continue, I continue…If I still have the energy, I still have the life, the blessings of God, I will continue,” Mugabe said in a 50-minute address.

Mugabe's decision follows the current economic turmoil Zimbabwe is following as banks runs out of cash and the country forced to issue new bank notes.

The Zimbabwean president had earlier cancelled a trip to Ghana which could have seen him deliver a presidential lecture at a Lifetime Africa Achievement Prize awards to be held at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra this year.



92-year-old Mugabe, the only President Zimbabwe has had in 36 years of independence has been described my various supporters as the longest living pan-Africanist in world history.

A female self-confessed ‘child-kidnapping witch doctor’ -was stripped naked and beaten before being sexually assaulted after she was caught right in the act.
