Indian Man Bites off His Wife's Nose for refusing to pay His dowry demand

A. violent husband has bitten off his wife’s nose after she refused to return home and agree to his dowry demands. Raj Kumari married Shiv Prasad two years ago but when the pair separated last year, Shiv, 23, continued to demand a luxury dowry from his wife’s family.


He wanted them to pay him around £1,800 and buy him a motorbike. The 21-year-old woman moved out to live with her parents in Lakhimpur Kheri, in northern India, but Shiv continued to harass her.

She claims she was walking to classes, when Shiv ran up behind her and grabbed her, and suddenly lunged at her face. As soon as he ran off she called her family and they quickly arrived before rushing her to a medical clinic.

Police arrested Mr Kumar, a labourer, at his home on the same day.

A female self-confessed ‘child-kidnapping witch doctor’ -was stripped naked and beaten before being sexually assaulted after she was caught right in the act. The woman – it is reported – had been caught red-handed trying to lure away young children with promises of ice cream in Imo state.
