Over 240 African Migrants die in Boat mishap
According to authorities, 180 migrants who were mostly wearing life jackets were pulled to safety by rescue boats after the inflatable water vessels began taking water and capsized 25 miles off the coast of Libya.
International Organization for Migration’s (IOM) chief spokesman, Leonard Doyle, commenting on the matter, said”
“TWO RUBBER DINGHIES, WHICH IS WHAT THEY ARE, RUBBER DINGHIES, PACKED WITH MIGRANTS, TOTALLING OVER 300 WE THINK IN ALL … HAVE SUCCUMBED TO THE THE WAVES OFF LIBYA IN VERY BAD WEATHER.”
It is thought that thousands of Africans crossing into Italy and other parts of Europe illegally drown in the Mediterranean monthly. The rest who make it to the other side are usually faced with the stern life of refugee camps while the extra tough achieve their dreams of making money usually after a few months.
