A Ghanaian Author Mr Richard Quashio believes that Ghana and a number of other African countries including South Africa,Kenya,Egypt have a better living standard than Nigeria.despite the trillions budgeted yearly.

He used Ghana his home country to make his survey.

Don't let anyone lie to you, living outside Ghana does not always mean greener pastures.

Before you make that decision to leave Ghana to seek greener pastures, you need to completely understand what you're getting yourself into. And this could take lots of painstaking research and time. This is the results of our research.

In the first of our series on "If you lived in...", we take a look at the differences between Nigeria and Ghana.



1. If you lived in Nigeria instead of Ghana, you would make 20% less money every year.

In Ghana, the GDP per capita is $3,500.00 per capita, while in Nigeria, that number is $2,800.00 per capita. This is really not representative of the truth as GDP calculation takes into consideration the total population and Nigeria's population is much greater than Ghana and full of more unemployable people,and the fastest growing economy.




2. If you lived in Nigeria instead of Ghana, you would live 13.1 years less


In Ghana, you (on average) will live to approximately 65.75. In Nigeria, the average life expectancy is 52.62.



3. If you lived in Nigeria instead of Ghana, you would be 2.2 times more likely to be living with aids



That's 121.4% more likely! In Ghana, 1.4% of people are living with AIDS/HIV. In Nigeria, that number is 3.1%.



4. If you lived in Nigeria instead of Ghana, you would be 26.6% less likely to have access to improved drinking water


In Ghana, 87.2% of people have access to clean drinking water. In Nigeria, 64% do.


5. If you lived in Nigeria instead of Ghana, you would be 92.3% more likely to die in your infancy


In Ghana, approximately 38.52 per 1000 infants die before they reach the age of one. In Nigeria, on the other hand, there are a total of 74.09 deaths during infancy per 1000 people.


6. If you lived in Nigeria instead of Ghana, you would be 2.17 times more likely to be unemployed





That's 117.3% more likely! In Ghana, 11% of people are unemployed, and in Nigeria 23.9% are unemployed.


7. If you lived in Nigeria instead of Ghana, you would be 2.46 times more likely to be below the poverty line


That's 145.6% more likely! In Ghana, 28.5% of people are below the poverty line. In Nigeria, 70% are.


8. If you lived in Nigeria instead of Ghana, you would have 21.1% more babies


In Ghana, there are approximately 31.40 babies per 1000 people. In Nigeria, however, there are a total of 38.03 babies per 1000 people.

But it is not all bad in Nigeria, they are some good things there too.



9. If you lived in Nigeria instead of Ghana, you would see a 58.3% increase in coastline


Ghana has a total of 539 km of coastline, while Nigeria has a total of 853 km.


10. If you lived in Nigeria instead of Ghana, you would consume 44.2% less electricity


In Ghana, electricity consumption use is 206 kWh per capita. In Nigeria, it is 115 kWh per capita.

With these facts he concluded that if you lived in Nigeria Instead of Ghana You will die earlier and poorer.
