A 12-year-old boy from Kerala has fathered a child with a 16-year-old girl in Kerala.


That makes him India’s youngest father.
Their baby was born in a hospital in Ernakulam a few months ago.
But DNA testing proved the paternity of the child only this week, reports The Hindu.
The paper also quoted Dr. P.K. Jabbar of the Medical College Hospital, Thiruvananthapuram, saying the boy may have “precocious puberty,” a condition in which a child attains puberty at a much earlier age.
All details of the incident have been withheld in accordance with the provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The police initially wanted to slap the POCSO provision on the case but are said to be in a legal quandary as both parents of the baby are minors.
