Czeslaw Dudek, 37, was taking part in the Weybridge 10k event in Surrey on Sunday when he collapsed 400m from the finish.
The carpenter from Feltham in west London was being cheered on by his wife Sylwia, 32, and their seven-year-old daughter.
He was given CPR at the scene in front of other runners and shocked spectators but later died in hospital.
Mr Dudek was competing in his first timed running event and collapsed at about 10.30am on Sunday near the Weybridge Health Club on Walton Lane.

“Unfortunately, he was never able to the finish the race as he collapsed just 400m before the finish line. He was a loving and caring dad and husband.

Paramedics were called to the scene. |
“No amount of money will bring Czeslaw back, but hopefully it will help his family do what ever they need to do.”
