Father of two kills neighbour as she rejects his advances
A father of two was so smitten by his neighbour that he fatally stabbed her when she rejected his advances. Another woman who rushed to the victim’s rescue was also injured. The incident occurred on Siddharth Road in Deepanjali Nagar, western Bengaluru.
Girish (35), a painter by profession, was making advances at his neighbour, Shobha (25), an MBA graduate on job-hunting. Her parents were no more and she was living with her brother.
Girish, who is married and has two children, proposed to Shobha many times but she didn’t reciprocate. Things came to a head when Shobha asked him to stay away from her.
Girish held a grudge against her and publicly teased her. Around 12.30 pm on Tuesday, he saw her talking to two women in the locality. He waited until the women left. He then approached her and proposed to her again. She got upset and asked him to go away. In a moment of rage, Girish took out a knife and stabbed her in the abdomen.
A neighbour named Vijayamma (50) witnessed the assault and rushed to Shobha’s rescue but Girish stabbed her too and ran away. "I was in the house when Shobha started screaming for help. Two of us ran out and saw her bleeding profusely. We took both Shobha and Vijayamma to Victoria Hospital but doctors declared Shobha brought dead,” Shobha’s relative Lakshmamma told DH.
Vijayamma’s condition is stable. The jurisdictional Byatarayanapura police picked up Girish hours later. His wife, however, told them she didn’t knew about his love for Shobha.
